My Latest and Greatest Frustration.... My Health

My latest and greatest frustration has been dealing with health. Back in May of this year (2011) I had surgery to remove a pesky cyst on my left ovary that was making my ovary twice the size of my right one. I thought I was finished with those darn things and as I so rudely found out last Saturday I have MORE cysts. Last time I wasn't in any pain and to be honest I didn't know it was there until I had an ultrasound done.
My pain started last Saturday immediately when I woke up. I brushed it off and tried to ignore it. The next day the pain continued even when I tried to rest and ignore my housework to hopefully feel better. About 2 pm I decided I should visit my emergency room to have them help me figure it out. I spent probably a total amount of 1hour 30 minutes there. They ask me a million questions including when was your last period, when was your last bowel movement, when did the pain start, are you sure it isn't just gas. Needless to say they sent me home with a prescription of laxatives and pain medicine. They didn't believe me when I said there was something wrong. They were just like ehhh you are just constipated and have cramps here you go.
Two more days go by and let me just mention that it was just a holiday weekend so I had suffered through 4 days of pain. I went back to the emergency room. They give me a whole battery of questions again. After being there for almost 2 hours they finally said ohh lets do an an ultrasound for you but not a normal one we are going to stick you with a catheter to fill your bladder up with fluid. Lets just remind you that one of the million questions that I had to repeatedly answer "Does it burn or tingle when you pee?" Ummm it didn't but it does now thanks to your catheter.
After putting the catheter in I have to wait 15 minutes before they took me to get the ultrasound. The ultrasound took nearly a half an hour. They then wheeled my bed out into the radiology hallway and said they called the emergency room and someone would be down to pick me up shortly. A little more than a half hour later the radiologist receptionist finally says I am just going to take you back over there. Hooray I am finally going to get this catheter out!
I arrive back to my little room where I sit for another 20 minutes! My husband finally gets upset because I am laying in bed in pain and super uncomfortable and annoyed that the healthcare professionals keep forgetting about me he hunts down my nurse who tells him that no one told her that we were back from my test. My nurse comes right away and takes the catheter out thank goodness! 15 more minutes goes by and another tech comes to see me from the CT scan department. Here you go drink this you have 40 minutes to get this down. Oh great I have to drink this stuff that makes me want to vomit. My nurse had to give me a medicine that would make me less nauseated. 45 minutes later I am walked down to the CT scan room where they poke me 3 times trying to get a IV in my body so they can pump me full of the stuff that highlights my veins. The stuff made me nauseated again.
On Thursday September 15, 2011 I had my second laparoscopic surgery to see first what was wrong with me and second to remove any cysts that the doctor may find because I was having pain in my lower right quadrant. I had went to the emergency room twice. The first visit was a disaster because I had a male doctor (no offense to those male doctors out there) but he immediately jumped to the ohh its just cramps and constipation diagnosis. It was very frustrating for me because I know my body and I know when I am constipated and this was not one of those days. Another thing that was annoying is that he sent me home with a prescription for laxatives and pain medication and said that I am not high enough priority to have an ultrasound done. Thanks for caring doc. So far so good an it has been several months and no pain!
